Mysterious moan at start-up update/solution 850 1994

A while back somebody had posted a possible solution for stopping the moaning noise that my vehicle was plagued with 1-2 minutes after a cold morning start. I wanted to repost the solution because it worked for my car.
The solution was to change the viscosity of the oil. I was originally using Mobil 1 10W-30 and I switched to Mobil 1 0w-30 and the mysterious moan has not returned since. So for others, who are having this problem, give this a try and post your results. It worked for me so it will hopefully work for others. Good luck...

I have just purchased my 850, but have had V's in the past. I have a similar noise on cold mornings. I think it has something to do with a cold start mechanism, or perhaps, a fuel regulation mechanism. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. I really don't think it can be solved with lover visc. oil

    Scott,
I had this same moaning niose but I am using conventional oil, 10W30. Do you think I will have the same results as you if I try 5W30? The car is mostly resting for the winter months, while I drive my truck. Since it hasn't been too cold here lately I havn't noticed the moaning noise. If I need to change the oil before spring I will try the 5W30 to see if the noise goes away.
    I will let you know.
    Thanks for the tip.
    Tom

The person who suggested I use a different oil viscosity originally suggested that I use 5w-30. I personally thought 5w-30 wouldn't make enough difference so I used 0w-30 instead. Give 5w-30 a try and let me know what happens...
