Did you check for a stuck caliper? That’s the usual reason for a sticking wheel.

I believe the bearings are sealed on that model V70. Check out these instructions on replacing a rear wheel bearing on those cars from Matthews Volvo website. Matthews is a good resource for FWD and AWD Volvos owners - BTW…

Could be a calliper but the handbrake mechanism/shoes could also be the culprit. All should be revealed if you try to spin the wheel with it jacked up.

As mentioned, the handbrake mechanism often gets little attention until everything gets rusted up or the brake material fails. Turning the wheel with controlled application of the handbrake lever might tell a story.

Agreed, could very well be the emergency brake. Check it out first. If not, then move on to the rear wheel/hub. Is there any bearing type noise at that wheel? Believe bearing noise will be more high pitched. As suggested, jack it up, spin the wheel apply the hand brake and listen. That will tell you a lot.

Worse case scenario, if it is indeed the bearing, it actually looks like an easier job than on a RWD Volvo. Basically remove and replace.
