07 XC70 with no rear drive V70-XC70 2007

Okay, just finished the RF axle replacement, gee, vibration during accel is gone. Now for the RWD, we also have an 06 xc70, and comparing how they handle the 07 has no RWD.

Yes, this is a Haldex system. My first question is if there is an available tool to 1: Talk to the DEM, or even better, also reset/program the DEM once the module is repaired/replaced.

My intent for now is to check the wiring, and see if the pump motor actually works or is shorted. So, even if the DEM is dead, I'll replace the pump, temp sensor, and the DEM.

Before I go through the cost of the above any scan/program tool ideas would be greatly apreciated! This one has 130K on it, super clean.

Thanks,
jorrell

I think you should consider getting VIDA/DICE, it is really difficult to troubleshoot these cars without a proper scanner. I got a used Chinese clone DICE unit that plugs into the OBDII port. I installed a WIN10 repack of VIDA that can be downloaded online. You can't program modules without a subscription, but you can diagnose just like at the dealer. There are a bunch of parameters you can set with it as well, like seat heater temperature, etc. My whole set-up cost about $60 (I had a laptop already).

I have 2 XC70s as well-- a 2004 and a 2006. I have heard that they don't handle properly without the rear wheel drive, lots of wheel spin at take-off. I am in the Toronto area, so having AWD in the winter is a big plus, and I drive rough dirt roads at my cottage in the other three seasons. I wish we got the diesels here, my only complaint is the mileage...

    Good luck

Keeping it running is better than buying new

I have loved all my Volvos, I even drove my '96 855R until it was 17 years old but-

You do not say where you live - Is front wheel drive THAT bad?

I had 4x 740s, 3x 854s, and one FWD XC70 and really had no trouble with any of them - always ran snows on all wheels during the winter.

(one of our 2 XC70s is AWD)

Here locally it is not bad, but there are a few days per winter where this area is hopeless Most Carolinians call in sick when flurries are mentioned, and the stores are out of milk, bread, beer, and of course smokes. On my side of things, I am usually out helping the elderly, especially when they are out of power and have medical issues. It is purely volunteer work.
