Anyone looking for 1998 V70 NA 5 speed MT ? V70-XC70 1998

Hi Klaus,

I live in Virginia near Charlottesville. The car I am selling has white exterior with dark grey/blue cloth interior.

I compared the clutch engagement of the White 1998 V70 NA with my Silver 1998 V70 NA that has lower mileage:

Both cars: Lower edge of clutch pedal rests about 5.5 inches above the carpet (floor mat removed). There is about 1/2 inch of free play - applying light hand pressure the pedal moves down about 1/2 inch so it is 5 inches from carpet.

White V70 - As pedal moves up, clutch starts to engage about 3.25 inches from carpet.
Silver V70 - Clutch starts to engage about 2.75 - 3.0 inches from carpet.

98 V70 does not have RFID in keys so the keys can be copied without dealer software. There are 3 keys but no remote. The Charlottesville area of Virginia does not require emission testing, so I dont know if the car would pass.

For most of the time I owned the car, it regularly reported PO442 (small leak) and PO445 (large leak) EVAP codes. Last month I did some diagnosis and removed the left front fender liner to expose the charcoal canister and vent valve. The vent valve had a fractured hose and the purge valve (near radiator) was leaking. I replaced the purge valve with a new Bosch unit and replaced the vent valve hose. It will take some more driving to see if the EVAP codes are permanently gone. The SAS delete modification has also been implemented.

A few days ago, the car reported cat efficiency code PO422 for the first time ever. It may be due to a leak at the exhaust manifold flex joint. Or it could be the cat or oxygen sensors. The exhaust system and oxygen sensors are all original.

If I were keeping the car I would determine the PO422 cause and fix it. The free 1999 S70 parts car may have a good exhaust manifold and cat, so it could be a matter of swapping some parts.

Im not sure if the car should be viewed as a daily driver or just a collection of parts. Does the M56 manual make it a sought after vehicle ? Are there folks looking for M56 transmission and linkages so they can do an auto-manual swap ?

I think that only a Volvo P80 enthusiast would want this car. Like all P80s, it will always need some parts and repair/maintenance every few months.

Thanks

Mike
