Back seat removal 850

Hi group- anyone remove back seat to replace fuel pump in a 850 sedan? YouTube video “Robert “ just does sedan. Fuel pump looks straightforward but I’m looking for tips on back seat. Thx!

No need to remove rear seat to replace fuel pump or sender. Access is through the trunk, just lift the carpeting after flipping the seat back forward.

Thanks Klause… I finally found the access cap behind the seat in the trunk… bought a removal tool for the lock ring on parts geek so I got it out ok. Car stopped running last year so I replaced fuel pump and cam sensor and pumped out old fuel. Still won’t start. Added oil to each cylinder and still nothing. Replacing mass air next weekend.

      Thx for help.

I think that the back seat bottom is held by a clamp that looks like half a ball with an inverted T-shaped slot cut into it.

To unlatch the bottom of the seat, you push on the bottom of the seat frame to move the wire that holds the seat bottom back into the enter of the T, then pull up.

If you push too hard, you push the wire into the back of the T and the seat bottom will not release.

The technique is to push the bottom of the seat frame back while pulling up - push back gently at first, then apply more force - when you reach the center of the T the seat bottom will come up.

It may take a few tries, but once you get the trick the seat bottom comes out easilly.

Can’t say about your 850 for sure, but for many years the lower seat cushions were released by grasping the upper front edge of the seat and abruptly shoving downward and aft.

Thx for response. There isn’t a good YouTube video on this for sedan I meant. I’ll post again this weekend if I get it out.
