Has the PS fluid ever been flushed? Mobil1 ATF works wonders.

As Klaus suggested, you could try a flush and refill with Mobil 1 synthetic ATF. Worth a shot before replacing the pump or whatever is noisy. Mobil 1 cured leaky rack seals in my 95 850!

You could do a YouTube search. There are a couple of ways to do a complete flush. Remember, ATF and not engine oil!!

I used a turkey baster. You will need to empty the reservoir multiple times and replace with synthetic before the fluid can be considered somewhat changed. It was about a month before the seals stopped leaking in my car. So give this approach some time for the synthetic to do its “cleaning thing”.

Listen to the PS pump with a stethoscope or thin hose to determine if the noise is emanating from it. Have someone turn the steering wheel for you. What type of noise it? Is it a whine when you turn the wheels or another type of noise?
