Have a V70 2002 T-5. After shut down ON A HOT DAY there is something running - sound coming from under the timing belt - I know its not the engine fan - it;s stopped - can feel it on shift consol in the car - slight vibration
Is it perhaps a cooling system for the transmission, or water circulating?

Engine oil, antifreeze, and ATF are all circulated only with the engine running.

The fan for the AC evaporator will run after the engine is turned off. This is to help dry the evaporator and keep water from accumulating on the core. It may run for 10 minutes after engine shut down.

There is a function called "Afterblow" Anytime the A/C has been used, it triggers this function. Doesn't matter how hot it gets. Upon engine shut down, The passenger compartment fan activates, and runs at maximum speed for about 5 minutes. This is the blower fan for the heater A/C. This can be switched off with VIDA, or simply turn the key back on for a few seconds, and this will stop the fan.

Does your car have headlamp wipers? If so, sometimes the motor(s) start to make lots of noise. You may also want to check the auxiliary air pump but it is more likely to make noises shortly after start up

A/C components or tranny cooling off perhaps??

Could be the little fan that cools down the ECM/TCM box. It’s on the aft side of the box so it might sound like it’s coming from the timing belt area.
