Stolen in Cincinatti V70-XC70 1998

Robert of Youtube.com DIY Volvo fame had his V70R stolen this morning!!

Why would anyone want to steal an old Volvo? It was just a black station wagon. I did like my 98 R!!

1998 has a throttle cable so likely stolen by someone who has uttered the words, "Ohh, no computerized cars for me".

The '98 did have a "chipped" ignition key and disabler antenna. Look for occasions where the key was in the hands of a parking lot crew.

If it was a customer's car, the whole caper could be REAL LOCAL.

1998 was the last year for throttle cable and chipless key.

Unfortunately, Kentucky is right across the river and is not a title state. Many stolen cars pass through there and get a 'clean' title when brought back to a title state.

What I don't understand, the 1998 R is not a high demand car. At least it wasn't when I owned one! And if the tailgate was replaced, there is no "R" emblem on the outside.

Hmmm....low demand car without prestigious badging? Sounds like a "restocking the warehouse job".

Funny, any late bill payment or taxes in arrears is instantly known about yet car serial numbers aren't instantaneously verifiable upon demand.

That car was chopped.

Even as old as it is the parts are certainly worth more than the market value of the car. Especially since it is a fairly rare car.

Not Panther, his own car, but a customers that he was just about to do a manual swap on I believe. He said he thought it was sitting there unlocked. Stupid but still a sad loss if it isn't found.
