procedure to replace sparkplugs S80

I have disconnected lead and unbolted coil assm above spark plug but can not pull out assm from spark plug itself. Is there a tool or method to do this? car is 6cylinder 2002 S80 and sparkplugs have 151,000 on them. thanks Leo

Volvo engines need to have the spark plugs replaced at 50-60K miles. Not so much that the plugs have totally failed, but that the steel to aluminum contact will result in 'frozen' plugs. At your car's age, I would have a reputable shop do the replacement, letting them know that they might have a problem removing them.

The coils should lift right off the spark plugs, about the same resistance as the old fashioned coil wires used pre 1999. The coil itself should turn slightly after the 10mm screw is removed.

If you decide to remove the spark plugs yourself, do NOT use too much muscle/torque to loosen them. Try soaking them in PB Blaster overnight. Good tutorial:

Thanks for the quick reply. The engine runs ok so I may pass on trying to replace the sparkplugs. I drive the car very infrequently. Thanks for the info for I will pass it on. Thanks again, Leo
