Broken shift lever V70-XC70

2001 V70 T5, Auto trans, 185k.

My shifter lever has broken. I can lift it straight up. There seems to be a plastic ring that holds things in place. It's there, I can see it. Looking for some guidance on how to get it all put back together.

Thanks!
Dan

You can lift it straight up means what exactly?
Does the lever pivot ? ....or can you raise the unattached lever straight up in the same attitude (angle) as if it were in the down position?

Would the plastic ring be a bushing?

Is the cable still attached to the lever? Is the 10mm adjusting nut still there?

I can pull the shifter knob straight up and thereby remove it. The plastic ring looks like a clip of some kind.

Thanks

Dan

That is the way the shift lever is removed. Did you try a closed fist to hammer it back down?

Klaus, I have not tried that! I certainly will. Anything special to do with that plastic ring/clip?

Thanks.

Dan

That plastic ring is supposed to hold down the shifter?
