reposting + new S60

Hi all

reposting that i have had 5 p2 cars and they all have had the power steering grab /release whilst cornering

What is the fix?

Is there an issue with the rack or pump

New post: I have a 2003 AWD and the rear sits up yet on an s60R sits normally

What is the reason for this

Is there a reason i cant replace the rear springs and which springs can i use

Thanks in advance

David

Regarding the springs, has the rear of the car been worked on? Check the springs and make sure the bottom of the springs are in the notch at the base.

How many miles on the 2003? Is it possible that the front is lowered slightly?

Not familiar with the P2 cars steering components but you might try lubing the steering shaft u-joints. Assuming your car has them...

My 240 had stiff steering that would get stuck. My 850’s steering would not always return to center. Normally it is the lower u-joint that starts to seize up from exposure to road debris and grime. Lubing the shaft u-joints with WD-40 while turning the steering lock to lock for a few minutes really helped! Do note that you might need to do it a few times before you get any results. Much cheaper than replacing the pump or rack!
