XC 70 ignition keys and rear hatches too V70-XC70

Hi, actually my question is, “How problematic are the key eater ignition switches on these cars”?
And
What do you do if it fails?

Second question because I figured I’d save you from an extra post. “How problematic are the rear hatches on the later versions, (like around 2010)?
Thank you,

Key slots - We have an '08 and a '12 XC70

The '08 has a slot that draws the key in, Edwin has had trouble with his - ours has sounded funny once and a while and has spit the key out a couple of times, about 99 percent of the time it has not acted funny.

The '12 has a slot that is passive, the key goes in with a click. No issues.

Hatches -

When we got the '08, there was a slight clunk when going over a small bump, I thought that it was in the rear suspension ($$$) - the latch on the body of the car was loose. On occasion, the hatch release has acted up - i have to push the handle down a bit and try to open it again - I think that its mechanism needs cleaning and lubrication. This has not happened much, so I have not taken the trouble to fix it.

On the '12, the hatch handle is encased in rubber and we have never had any issues with it.

Keep in mind that the '08 is 11 years old, and the rear of the car is a dirty, gritty place.
