2005 S40 T5M AWD, recently purchased: I've come to notice that most of the functions of the electronic climate control (ECC) are non-operational. It's taken a while because it's been a hot summer and the AC and the fan work great, varying the fan speed manually or based on the temperature set. However September is around the corner and with it colder temps and fogged windshields.
What I've come to notice though is that air only comes out of the panel vents; no defrost, no floor. Defroster button has no effect other than to activate the fan (to the dash vents). AC will turn off but heat is never available. Heated seats don't work either. Rain sensing wipers are also non-op.
So basically, on the waterfall panel, the radio/infotainment functions, ECC temperature, AC on/off, and blower fan settings all work, but all other functions are dead (lights do light up though).
I don't have a VIDA/DiCE link to run diagnostics on the climate control module (CCM). Is it a safe safe to assume that the CCM is hosed up rather than at least three dampers (defroster, floor, temperature) and both seat heaters all being faulty?
Working on that assumption, the CCM will need to be refurbished. I've seen the xemodex.com service. Wondering what they actually do to the CCM? I'm not opposed to paying, but if it's something that an adventurous DIYer can tackle, I've prefer that route especially since it costs roughly the same as my purchase price for the car.
What else should I be trying, some kind of hard reset that will magically fix everything? Apply 12v to a damper motor? I haven't checked fuses either...
Thanks for reading/responding,
Will
