P0193 and now P0088... V70-XC70 2007

All,

So before I pull the trigger and purchase a new fuel pressure sensor, I need to
know what my fuel pressure should be at the rail.

Pulling freeze data also gave me the following: 765 KPAG. What does that equate to in PSIs???

Thanks,

Matt

My scale didn't go that high! So I googled it. Something not right with your instrument... 765 KiloPascal = 110.9 psi

That's one hell of a fuel pump!!

yeah, that was my thought as well.

This is where sometimes analog is just better, but I can't confirm this till tomorrow night when my fuel pressure gauge set arrives.

My suspicion is that my pressure is just fine, and that my sensor has failed horribly!

There was a recall notice on certain VIN's that called for a one free replacement of the FPS - not sure if your VIN would be included or not. You might try calling Volvo customer service.

Both of our P2's ('03 2.4 NA & '05 2.5t) have had FPS failures. When I called Volvo about the '03 they said it WAS covered, but the previous owner had already collected on it. When I called about the '05 they said my VIN wasn't included in the recall - kinda odd when my VIN used the same sensor P/N as other VINs that WERE covered. Go figure...

Best prices I found at the time for OE Bosch sensors was at Voluparts.

          All,

Finally got my fuel pressure tester tonight and here is what I have found from the test:

After attaching gauge and priming the rail with key in pos II, I read 35 PSIs

Started up the car and it read 50ish PSI,

Once Idle came down, the pressure was around 42-44 PSIs.

Revved motor a few times and it stayed right on 42 PSIs.

Then I performed a leak down test after I shut it off, and here are these results.

          @ time 0: 44 PSI,
          @ 8 minutes, 50 PSI,
          @ 22 minutes, 50 PSI,
          @ 30 minutes, 49 PSI.

I could have kept on going, but I needed to test my S70 next, so I cut it off.

In my opinion, all the numbers look good, so I will call Volvo customer service tomorrow and see what they say. If yes, great, if not, then FCP it is. They have a Bosch for sale at $57.99 I think. Can't beat that prices with my Volvo stealership wanting $275! The nerve.

Does anyone have anything else to say about this conclusion that the pressure sensor needs to be replaced???

          Thanks in advance,

          Matt
