Thermostat replacement... V70-XC70

Volvo stuck it in our collective eye with that T-stat housing.
Only advantage is a new sensor in included in the new part.
Avoid PPS parts. Many bad experiences.
Same for Stant.
One fellow did get the Wahler thermostat and did open the housing and had success.

So what would you do? Spec a 2002 thermostat (last year for a separate t-stat) and see if it fit after you opened your housing?

I hate to say this but I'll be biting the bullet and sourcing the expensive part when the time comes.
