2007 S80 Alarm Goes Off S80

This just started last week after refueling. When we lock the car the alarm goes off immediately. I slammed all the doors and the hood. No luck. Then I opened the fuel door and pushed and released the switch in there and the alarm worked right. Now it has come back. I cleaned a corroded battery terminal and charged the battery. No joy. Is there a way to diagnose this issue?

I received the dealer's bill for diagnosing the alarm system today. The part they ordered is 30659413 and is $275.89. I found one on eBay for $194.71. The problem is, that I am not sure this is the problem. The dealer wants 3 hours for the job. $622 + tax.

OK, I found the SOB. IT IS NOT inside the right front fender well behind the fender liner!!! Although, I now know what the inside of the fender looks like.

IT IS on the center of the front firewall. I kept sounding it with the hood up and finder liner out until I located it. As I mentioned before pulling the fuse is not an acceptable work around because the radio and climate system go out.

With some experimenting, I was finally able to grab the plastic plug with lo9ng nose pliers and disconnect it. The release tab is impossible to see beforehand. And it will stay that way for a while.

    Observations:

I DO NOT believe it is the siren. I think it is the control module or a sensor. The dealer diagnosed it as the siren control module. I read on a forum that if you replace that you must pair the new part to the car's computer with A Volvo computer to get satisfactory results. The continued killing off of shade tree mechanics.

All I see is a plastic engine cover. There is a red wire on the right hand side...

Well that wasn't the right picture I linked. That is the panel that it is under. When I tried to upload the right picture to Brickboard, it says it is too large. My imgur account is not working right now.

          Try this

Thanks for letting us know that the security module has been moved. I hated it when they put it in a non secure area of the car anyway.

Anything with lithium batteries needs to have reasonably secure and easy access for replacement. Water tight would be nice!

    2007 S80 Alarm Goes Off S80

Took it to a dealer in Birmingham, AL. They say the alarm siren module has gone bad. Over $600 parts and labor. I think the part number is 30659413 and I have found one on eBay for $194.71 From what I have found it is located under the left front fender and is secured by a break off security bolt.

We were out of town the last three says and parking in a deck. It still alarms for 30 seconds even when it locks itself. The metal key only locks the driver door. I found the fuse and pulled. When we started home there was no radio or AC. Pulled over and put the fuse back in.

      Hi Mickey,

Get yourself the nice wiring diagram for your 2007 S80: TP 39100202
      http://www.volvowiringdiagrams.com/?dir=volvo/S80%20Wiring%20Diagrams

There's an ajar switch in the door lock modules, but you said
later that the key only cycled the driver door lock, which means a problem
with Central door locking. There's a module "DDM" 3/126 in the drivers door that's a candidate to check out. One problem with things in the door is the
wires back to the car can get broken with being bent all the time so you can
easily have a broken wire in the door harness. This is not a fun job to fix.

My hunch: I'd verify that the hood latch switch is working with an ohmmeter
you can hook up an ohmmeter with the continuity alarm and shut the hood to make sure that you don't have to realign the switch and/or the switch actuator.

If you want to just silence the alarm look it up in the wiring diagram pg 87
it's called "SCM" Siren Ctrl Module item 16/35

Look on the left of the page for components, click the triangle to find
16/35 and you will move to a new page with a picture of what it looks like
and an arrow showing where it is.

It looks like it's in the engine bay mounted on the firewall in front of the
passenger then if you just want to disable the siren, you can try unplugging
the connector first, if that doesn't do it cut the red wire to the siren, that's the +12V so find a small wire nut for it and/or tape and tiewrap it up securely. (You found out that pulling F26 also kills Climate Control)

      Good luck, Bill

Interesting. Did you ever get a message on the dash that the alarm system required service?

Here is a fun video from Britan on battery replacement:

Note that the alarm is in the left fender well.

Now I am finding more than one part number and a sensor module. Looks like I am going to have to dig in and find the booger to tell for sure.

Spray a little silicon on the switch behind the fuel door. Sounds like the switch is stuck.

    2007 S80 Alarm Goes Off S80

Since you have a sedan and you have caused a change in symptoms by playing with the fuel door, I would remove the trunk lining on the right side and remove the wires from the fuel door switch.

If, as I would suspect, the switch has to be closed to cause an alarm, removing the wires will stop your false alarm. BTW, don't forget to close the trunk when you perform this test, or you will get an alarm from the trunk.

After the wires are removed, you could test the switch with a meter.

If your car is like my 850s, start taking the trunk apart by removing the center trim piece at the rear of the trunk and work around to the right side. Look for things that overlap - remove them first.
