Headlamp Failure Service Required S60 2005

Head lights are HID. Ballast went and i replaced with oem Valeo. Now I intermittently get the message Headlamp Failure Service Required. The headlights are working. Any suggestions?

    The 'failure' used to be associated with one light using more electricity than the other side. New bulb or just new ballast?

    Keeping it running is better than buying new
