P0230 Fuel Pump Primary Circuit C70 2007

Driving home last night I got the red triangle and "Engine System Service Urgent" warning displayed. I didn't scan for codes until arriving home and pulled just one, the P0230 for Fuel Pump Primary Circuit.

I don't normally drive this car and the throttle response is much different than my F150. The only thing I noticed that seemed odd was taking off from a stop, the engine response to the first 1/4" or so of pedal travel seemed soft then it took off with a lot more power.

Idle is fine and it starts and runs fine otherwise. Is the fuel pump on the way out?

Erwin

Your throttle response could be from someone else driving the car, the TCU will adapt to the driver. My wife has a lead foot, so I cannot 'ease' the throttle from a stop.

The P0230 is the response from the fuel circuit module to the ECM. This could be the result of a low battery charge, or, a fault in the fuel circuit (FCM). I think the FCM is outside of the car body, next to the tank, on 2007. It has since migrated to the inside wheel well and protected from the elements. There is a relay that could be getting hot, or wires/diode board rotting from water intrusion.

Clear the code and see how fast it comes back.

Cleared it on 7/29 and it hasn't returned. Regarding throttle response, there are three of us driving the car with my daughter being the primary. She does have a lead foot getting away at stop lights.

      Thanks,,
