850R speedometer doesn't work nor does the odometer. Believe odometer is the plastic gear. Speedometer is it speed sensor on trans or the abs. Not familiar with these cars.

    jack the left front tire up. look at the bottom of the transmission case. you will see a two wire plug on the bottom. It came loose on me once and the speedo stopped working. Push it back together or clean and see what happens.

    The speedometer signal comes from the tranny, through the ABS module, and eventually to the instrument cluster. Usually, if the ABS is at fault, the ABS light has been on for a while and ignored.

    Keeping it running is better than buying new

    Odometer is a broken/stripped plastic gear. BTDT

    The speedo in my 95 855 GLT has never failed so I'm not 100% sure, but I think it is the speed sensor on the transmission. Try a search here or on Matthews Volvo website.
