Transmission incorrect gear ratio code and oil temp sensor open circuit codes 850 1995

My 1995 Volvo 850 turbo has recently been giving me major issues, getting code A1 ...transmission code 3-2-2 and 1-4-2, and getting worst. From info from members possibly the pnp sensor, but it seems to be jumping out of gear...while driving, I can sometimes get it back into gear by going to 3rd and then back to drive...but that does not always work, its flashing yellow up arrow and check engine light comes on. I can usually reset it, but recently it will happen again after a couple of miles. Help!!

Transmission issues with the 850 require super genius mechanic skills. You should stop driving it like this or your gonna cause an accident. Take it to a dealer or transmission shop.

Did you ever check the wiring at the temp sensor?

If the temp sensor thinks the transmission is cold it won't shift into 4th until the tranny warms up so possibly your failed temp sensor is causing a problem. Incorrect gear ratio means the tranny is spinning too fast or slow for the current gear which means slippage- could be worn plates, low fluid, or your torque converter is shot. Check fluid level I'm sure you have. If you had solenoid issues preventing lockup or shifting, you would have codes. That's why a shop or the dealer is really the only way to figure this out. They should have made the flashing arrow a flashing dollar sign or maybe a flashing platnum visa logo.
