Hello all, I need some advice.I'm looking to buy a used volvo S60.I havent found one yet but I would like to know what to look for and what to check out in this type of car. All replies are appreciated.

    Avoid 01-02's - transmission problems, well documented. Make sure you know when timing belt was changed last. Either time or mileage may dictate a replacement.

      Were the ’01 to ’02 transmission problems limited only to the automatics and not the manual transmissions?

        All FWD manual p2 cars had the rock solid m56h, so no worries there.

        jwalker, I believe you could get a manual p2 in all the years, but I could be wrong. They are sort of rare though.

        Yes, automatics only. You should avoid all 2001 and 2002 automatic Volvo's.

        Which brings a related question to mind. Which years S60's, if any, offered a manual tranny?
