Something is burning 850 1994

It doesn't seem to be oil. No leaks on the ground, levels are fine. After a drive when I shut the car off, a burning smell emits from the front of the car and sometimes one can see a bit of white smoke. It started a few days ago. It almost smells like rubber. And it lasts for about 15 seconds after I shut the car off. The light burning smell continues for a few minutes.

Shouldn't be transmission.....just had that replaced a few months ago and the fluid is fine.

Could it be belts? What should I look for?

Thanks.

You'd be surprised . . . 850 1994

at what melted rubbers, cooked engine oil, cooked tranny fluid, etc, smell like.

Heck, it might even be your brakes.

Wow, you've had the WORST luck with that car! Anyway, be cautious of the electric radiator fan motor. when the car is cool, spin the impeller check if it rotates smoothly. this is just a guess. Please be careful!

check for belts rubbing or your front tires rubbing.

Re: Something is burning 850 1994

not a high chance of this, but my future mother-in-law had ver similar symptoms in her ford - she ran over a grocery bag which got stuck underneath and was being cooked by the exhaust. I'd bet first on belts though, second maybe on a vac. line or electrical wire that got moved out of place to somewhere hot...
