Wheel interchangeability V70-XC70 2004

Looking for steel wheels for winter tires.

Summer wheels are 235/45-17.

225/55/16 is w/in 1 mph of 235/45-17.

What model years fit 2004 V70?

cheers

Any 1994 through 2007 wheels fit your car, from any 850, s70, s60, v70, v70xc. The S80's usually work too. Not s40 though. For snow/ice traction your best bet is generally 15" skinny siped tires, but its totally up to you what tire size/flavor you prefer. If you want exact speedo calibration you have to stick to stock diameter height, but I never had an issue varying away by a few MPH's. I use my garmin to set the cruise as it is far more accurate anyway.

Thanks for the info. The V70 is new to me. I've had 740/940 for years.

I didn't think a 15" wheel would the discs of a FWD Brick. Similar to 14" not clearing the discs of later model 740/940s?

Correct, the smallest wheel is a 16in for caliper clearance. You can get narrower tires by increasing the aspect ratio. 205/xx/16. There are a few tire caculators on line that will show diameters for comparisons.

I would use 2001+ wheels, shop around for some.

I just put the 15" alloys from my 99 onto my 2004 V70, and they fit without issue. Another poster said his wifes 03 XC70 wouldn't take 850 wheels, but he didn't specify which 850 wheels(15 or 16").

Really depends on rotor size. The V70 had 11inch rotors and the 2003+XC70 had the larger 305mm rotors. Note, the 2000 V70R had the 305mm rotor and 16in or grater wheels.

No expert here but I don`t think wheels from an 850 will fit your V70. The wheels from my 95 850 would not fit my wife`s 03 XC70.
Just bought a set of Gislaved winters with lots of rubber left on Volvo rims for $350.

The 850 and V70 are the same 5x108 bolt pattern and have interchanged in my many experiences. I actually just removed the 96 850 turbo 16" wheels I have had on my 04 V70 for the last 2 years.(those wheels look great on the 01-07 wagons by the way!) I have not run into any issues with caliper clearances on these cars like is somewhat common on the RWD Volvos. I have had 7 94-2004's that I mixed and matched wheels on. When you say the 850 wheels didn't fit your wife's 03 xc70, what didn't fit? I have not had a XC70 newer than my previous 98, which was the earlier style. Was it a caliper clearance issue why they didn't fit the 03? The XC's have about an inch higher ground clearance, and I ran 850 wheels on my previous 98XC70 without issue, but maybe the 01-07 XC's have a larger caliper being turboed?
