Amp + speaker upgrade? S70 1998

I just installed the accessory amp for the SC-816. It fits between the radio and the HVAC distribution box--invisible once installed.

FWIW the range and clarity of the sound is definitely improved.

Is it better than only upgrading speakers? I know that the price was the same as or less than quality speakers.

Has anybody done both the amp and speaker upgrade?

    Bryan, what did you pay for the amp? I'd also like to improve my audio system (especially the heavy mid base hump), but prefer to stay from radical changes. Although the Volvo amp is rated around 10% THD and you can do better 3rd party, I'd buy it if it solves my base problem.

      DaveK,

      The list for the amp, cable & bracket is @$850.00. I got the whole package at considerably less than that.

      Since this was a bargain to sell off another customer's unclaimed order, I promised not to reveal the actual cost. Sorry,I can't be more specific.

      The whole dynamic range is improved, but I don't know if it will address the low mid-range issue.
