The sway bar end links are a weak point. You can check them yourself, just turn the front wheels hard to the left and then reach behind the left front wheel and grab the vericle rod to the rear of the strut and try to shake it. If it moves at all, it needs to be replaced. Do the same for the right front wheel.

The end links are to be replaced as a pair. I suggest using IPD heavy duty version that wil last a few years.

Also check the spring seats at the top of the struts. Take a large channel lock pliers and try to turn the large top nut clockwise. It should move the entire strut with resistance and return when pressure is released. If the nut is easy to turn and does not bounce back, the spring seat is worn (replacement is costly as your mechanic will charge to remove the strut and re-align the front wheels). If the struts and shocks are original, it is time to replace them anyway, but most shops will charge a rediculous amount ($1000) for a 2 hour job.

Checked the end links? I had a 2001 that needed them replaced every 40K or so. 60 bux each from Volvo, but there must be a better one available cheaper on the aftermarket.
