Sun shade, visor replacement 850

HF63 was kind enough to give me a set of new sun visors, as the driver's side no longer stays up.

The question: Do I really have to remove the A pillar cover to unplug/plug the electrics for the mirror? The wires appear to be long enough to be just below the top of the dash. Can it be disconnected from below as I am going to remove the knee bolster anyway? I hate to remove plastic in these older cars, the locking tabs always break off.

Thanks.

    Klaus,
I changed my visor on my 95 and though the memory is a little foggy, I know I didn't remove the pillar plastic. I think I did a splice just inside the hole in the headliner.

I removed the A pillar cover, too many fasteners but none of them broke including those over the top of the B pillar which also had to be pried back.

There was no connector! It is underneath the dash, but there is no way that the wire can be routed unless the entire dash comes out.

      Splice and tuck!!!

The thing I like about removing plastic trim - Once you've pulled it off and broken half the tabs in the process, you can then see how you SHOULD HAVE removed it.

I had this same dilemma (dillema?) dimentia! when doing the headliner in our old 740. I didn't want to try to remove the plastic so I opted to pull the wire out a ways, snip it, and then re-splice when I went back together.

    Hi Klaus,

Can't help you with your trim removal question, but if you can find the broken tab ( you know you're going to have to remove the trim...) you can successfully reattach it using ABS/PVC/CPVC pipe glue that you would find in the plumbing department of your local hardware store.
