Wagon cargo volume/size 850

Hi Does anyone know the cargo volume or the width and legnth of the cargo area of an 850 wagon? I am assuming it is the same with the early V70's, so I won't ask what those are....but while I am at it how about an 740 or 940 wagon?
Thank you,
CU

James Sousa said it right, it is the size of the space, not the total volume. The 850/V70 through 2000 have a larger opening than the newer V70's. The 2/7/945s had even larger openings.

The 850/70 have a flat folding rear seat and the passenger front seat also folds flat, leaving the car as a 1 seater.

2000 V70: Cargo capacity: seat down 69.0 cu ft
Cargo capacity: seat up 33.9 cu ft

1997 855: Cargo Capacity Seat Down 67.0 cu ft.
Cargo Capacity Seat Up 37.1 cu ft.

Maybe I should have re-phrased that question;
Does anyone know the length of the cargo floor? and the width at floor level and at the narrowest point?

Apparently the 850 and my 2010 Jetta wagen have the "same" volume, however the 850/V70 appear so much bigger and more practicle. Also they seem to have a better opening i.e. much more sqaure an not as angled.
Thank you,
CU

Cargo volume is only really interesting if you are going to carry ping pong balls.

Consumer Reports has a box that they can alter the dimensions to see what is the largest box that will fit in a vehicle. Perhaps you can ask them or find out where to see their old tests.

In 850s or later - will you include the space over the folded front seat?

BTW - We personally carried an armoire in our '88 745 GLE that was 40 x 26 x 78 inches!

We had to angle it in to get the crown molding in the rear door, luckily the base was 2" smaller. The top touched both grab handles in the front and we had to drive and ride with the seats pulled up all the way. I am 6 feet tall and my wife 5' 9", we were stuffed in like sardines!

I think that the 740 will hold more than the later wagons because the rear is not tapered as much.

A few months ago we took extended test drives in a XC 60 and a XC 70. I measured them against my 855R, and all three had comparable cargo areas within an inch or so. All had nearly the same rear hatch size.
