220,000 mile, Mostly highway mileage. Uses 1 quart per 500 miles. Purchased with 75,000 on it with full dealer service history. It's a non turbo. Noticed oil film about 3 months ago. Yesterday white smoke after city driving and doing a parallel park job. Started this morning no smoke. Suggestions Please

    Mark the level of antifreeze in the overflow bottle and check it for a few days. White smoke can also be caused by unburned oil getting to the exhaust, but that is usually reserved for turbos.

    You probably need a few good valve stem seals(20) and a headgasket?

      Topped off the radiator about 1 month ago. Refill radiator light starting to go on and off now. No white steam/smoke since I had it last. What should I expect to pay an independent shop for new valve seals and head gasket. Should I go ahead and have the head taken to a shop?

        Replacing a head gasket is going to cost you! About $850+ depending on the shop labor. Other work is optional.
