'01&'02 Changes V70-XC70 98

Anyone have any clues to likely changes in the 2002 V70 T5 compared to the 2001 model? My lease on the '98AWD is up in June and I like the new body style but, can probably get a better deal on the 2001. Thanx, George

Re: '01&'02 Changes V70-XC70 98

I'm seriously considering buying a '02 V70T5M (vs. a Saab 9-5), and giving my '98 to my daughter.

Having gone through this once.....the first year's buyers of any new model Volvo are usually unpaid test drivers for the company....and the '98 wasn't even all THAT new....I'm not going to do it again to save a couple of bucks.

Other than the usual "electronic upgrades", no changes planned for MY2002 V70s.

Would this also be true for the S80?

Hello Yannis,

What do you think is a reasonable discount to expect on a '01 or '02 T5? I live on Long Island where the market is VERY competitive. Thanx, George

Re: '01&'02 Changes V70-XC70 98

Hi George,

I am very familiar with the NY-metro market; yes, it is very competitive, ctually I think it is almost on the same level as the Philly market.

Discount on a MY2002 V70 T5? Cannot tell you since we are at least 9 to 10 months away from such model. I think that you could probably get a 2001 V70 T5 (automatic not manual where you will pay a lot more) a few hundred $$$ over dealer invoice...Perhaps more, if the car has been there for a while. If you want to save money, you should look for a car that has been invoiced BEFORE September 9, 2000 as on that date, V70 T5s had a price increase of $1,000 in order to distance their price from that of the V70 2.4T....up to that point, only $500 separated the two models which made it a no brainer on which model you should go with.

If you are interested in Silver Metallic, I do have two V70 T5s that have been invoiced before September 9th, therefore, you should save quite a bit over a similar T5 that has been invoiced past Sept. 9th. I could even flat bed it to Long Island (cars have absolutely no mileage!)!!!

Yannis
