Hey guys, What is the best way to drain out the gas tank on a 2000 XC? Jumo the fuel pump and disconnect the fuel rail and pump away?? or is there a better option?

    If you're just replacing the tank, get a container and drill a couple holes. If you're going to reuse the tank, jumper the fuel pump and un-hook the hose and let her rip.

    Whatever you do, ground the container to the source of the fuel.

    Never let gas fall through the air without a ground.

    I attended a fire that destroyed a 10,000 square foot shop because a mechanic let fuel drop out of a drain plug into an open pan.

    A hose a siphone works well. You could disconnect the fuel line at the filter rather than the engine compartment. Or take it for a nice ride?
