Climate Control removal / replacement 850

The dial button on the driver's side of MANUAL climate control in 97 850 does not change temperature. I used to have to turn it with a pair of pliers, and I think I may have turned it one time too many. It's stuck on the high heat side, which is fine for winter, which is now turning to spring. I've seen many of these units in boneyards, and as I recall there were some tutorials available but search engine doesn't seem to be working on Brickboard and I've not located anything pictoral on any other sites. Would appreciate instructions, cautions, etc. Thanks.
