brake fluid life 850

I have 3/4 of a can of ate brake fluid that I opened in '05. It has been tightly sealed in original container these past 6 years. Flushing my brakes on the 850 this weekend - can i use it, or should I chuck it and just buy a fresh supply? how much do i need - 1 liter enough?

    brake fluid test strips , but 100 cost $54 850 1995

I'll have to team up with 10 friends as I'd only want 10 for $5.40. I wrestle with problems like this one. If your can was opened only once on a low humidity day in death valley, CA ...? At least if you opened it during a thunderstorm you could feel good about discarding it.

Use that old stuff only in an emergency. Brake fluid is hydroscopic and
only gets worse with aging, and it's cheap to get some new DOT4 fluid.
I used a quart can of ATE Blue so that you could see when the old stuff is flushed out. Next time I'll use clear.

My 220 has a hydraulic clutch which gets the last of the liter bottle to flush the system. I don't consider a clutch as important as brakes.
