I was leaving work friday night and had about 1/2" snow on the windshield. Yup, the drivers arm flopped over on the way home and the bolt wouldn't tighten enough to keep it going.
So- today i went to the home depot and got two 5/8" crush locking washers, an Irwin 8-32 drill and tapp set and two 8-32 1/2" cap screws with hex sockets. by the nuts and bolts in the drawers. the 3/8" would be a little better i think.
I took the arms off and drilled a hole on the top of each arm that was centered on the hole and tapped it. I then put the arms back on the car with the 5/8" crush washer and put the cap screws in super tight.
They feel invincible now. A little blue locktight on the cap screws would be good.
If you don't have problems now, at least get the 5/8" crush washers on there. I couldn't find the plastic ones Klaus was talking about. Cost 17 cents for the washers and 6 six bucks for the tap set and screws.
