codes p0001, p0002, p0003 and a dead o2 sensor 850

'97 volvo 850 NA 149,000 miles

p0001 : fuel volume regulator control circuit / open

p0002 : fuel volume regulator control range/performance

p0003 : fuel volume regulator control circuit low

Oxygen sensor dead. voltage varies between .455/.470v

ordered new o2 sensor, will install soon.

What piece of hardware do the above codes refer to.
fuel pressure regulator ?? computer control ??
car is getting bad fuel mileage (14-15mpg) have not had a chance to pull the spark plugs yet to confirm but feel the car is running rich

    Someone once told me that new plugs are 90% of a tuneup.
    When the car runs like crap do a tuneup first.

    I am totally confused. The 850 doesn't have a 'fuel volume regulator'. Are you sure your code reader was set for Volvo/Ford?

    I'm not sure about your codes, but I'm guessing they are referring to your fuel pressure regulator. Pull the vacuum line off and see if there is fuel in it, or measure your fuel pressure at the rail. Others may chime in here-- my experience with this is limited to RWD Volvos...

    There's a very good chance that your 02 sensor is fine and is just telling the truth about how much 02 it is seeing...

      codes p0001, p0002, p0003 and a dead o2 sensor 850

      I'm not sure about those codes either since the fuel pressure regulator is a mechanical device not electrical. Changed the dead oxygen sensor (which was covered in heavy black soot)for a new OEM style one. Will get around to measuring the fuel pressure someday soon.
      Waiting to see what happens to the fuel mileage for now.
