Can a used remote for a 2005 be reprogrammed or do you have to buy a new one at the dealer thanks

If it is just a case that broke, you can buy a new case. Dealer to program a new/used remote, and you also have to bring him the other remotes.

when I took in the remotes one of them being the used one I got they said they could not reprogram it ,and I know they could not reprogram the 2001-2003 but I thought they could do all others. Just wonder if they are giving me a line.

Dealers can reprogram all car remotes starting with 1998. They can do 93-97 also, but so can the owners.

Check the back of the remote. There is an FCC code and model number that should match your original one.

Is there another dealer around with brains? There is money to be made here, and if I were a dealer I wouldn't turn you down.

Dealer CANNOT program used remotes for p2 and newer cars WITHOUT the unique pin number that was attached to the remote package when manufactured. These numbers are NOT available in any Volvo database. A used remote without these numbers is a paper weight
