Get a cam locking tool to make things easier. No, the crank pully does not have to come off. The dust plate on the bottom forward side does have to come off and the belt clearance is quite tight, but it will slide out.

You will also need a new tensioner and its pully.

No. The cam lock will hold the cams just fine. I suggest counting the number of teeth between the sprockets and making sure the same number is there when the new belt is installed. There is a good amount of pulling on the belt to get it right.

Tensioner and tensioner roller is required replacement.

Check the water pump roller for play. If loose, replace the pump.

THK !..
I changed the T-Belt at 105K mi, tensioner and idler.. it took 9 hrs,
Set the marks AND counted the ribs to said cam marks. This is important if not locking the camshaft. The EX`moves freely..

Lined up again and removed my belt so as to know how to replace it, I did not remove damper. Changed the coolant, blue Volvo, upper and lower radiator hose ,coolant recovery hose. cleaned Volvo plugs gap at .028..changed oil, power steering fluid..
started right up..wow!..happy me,

mr.c.klaus, thanks for the heads up on the rib/teeth count..

water pump seemed OK, I plan on changing at 200K :-)

2012, positive and Healthy..
