ipd Sport Springs? 850

Hi all,
I have a '94 850 turbo and seeking spring options. I would like it to handle better and sit lower at the same time, of course, I don't want to sacrifice the ride quality too much. Do any of you have any experience with the current ipd Sport springs? How about springs from R models? Any review would be helpful before I make the purchase.

Other question is whether turbo models came with stiffer/lower spring from the factory originally compares to non-turbo models? I notice on the road that non-turbos may sit a bit taller. Is this just a illusion from the tire sizes? And T-5s and R models came even stiffer/lower spring than regular turbo models then? ...I am mostly just curious.

Thank you as always.

Is there any real appeciable gain by switching out the stock springs and replacing them with "sportier" ones other than car height? I have a '97 850 base and have been very impressed with its handling. I was driving an '86 325es with the sport suspension, so I am used to sharp handling, but I think the 850 is one of the best handling front wheel drive cars (and/or Volvos) that I have ever driven.

Sport springs were standard on the R models, optional for other models. The sport springs do lower the car about 1 inch, but the ride is quite harsh.
IPD does have progressive springs that lower the car but the ride is not supposed to be quite as hard as OEM sport. Same struts and shocks for all models.

      Thanks you, Klaus as always.

You mentioned sport springs were optional for other models. Is there any way to know for sure if my wagon has stock springs or not? I have a set of stock 16" with 205/55. Up front, there is only 1" if not less space between the tires and the fender opening. It does seem lower than other 850 around from my observation. Or did turbo models also came with different Springs? Thanks!

On the inner fender, next to the battery, there is a Product Plate. On the right hand side, the next to last row consists of 7 characters. Your dealer's parts department can tell you what they mean for your car. My pocket data book only tells me the various part numbers.
