P0014 - Solved? V70-XC70 2001

Have a 2001 V70 T5. Changed timing belt last summer. About 200 miles later, the P0014, B camshaft position - Timing code came up. Car drove like it always did, so I didn't worry about it (This was at 225k miles). I did replace the Exhaust VVT.

Now, my girlfriend has a 2001 S60 T5. Her car always seemed much faster than mine, AND I had the IPD ECU update. I figured the V70 just has more miles and thats the way it is.

Fast forward to last weekend. Ignition coil went bad, so I replaced it and checked the spark plug. It was pitted, so I decided that I'll replace them all.

Now, this is whats weird. I went to replace the spark plugs, and ALL 5 of them were loose.(Even the one I checked, and I know I had it real tight) Every one I could hand loosen. Now I have a boost gauge, and my vacuum was about -20psi and would boost to 15ish psi. Never thought anything of it. I replaced all plugs, and made sure they were tight (touch, not torque wrench)

Car Runs so much better now, AND now my P0014 Code has gone! I understand loose/pitted plugs causing boosting lag, rough idle and bad fuel economy, but the P0014 Code and Just after a timing belt change??

Idea's/thoughts?

Tom

    P0014 - Solved? V70-XC70 2001

P0014 Still clear.. But now after a day or 2 car has less pickup below 3k RPM. (Compared to 01 S60 T5).. Going to swap out MAF next. Wonder if perhaps turbo spring is not working right... 235k original turbo.

How many miles on the front O2 sensor?

Is the BCS original? IPD has a replacement, supposed to work nicely.

BTW, with your mileage, you shouldn't expect to have 275bhp.

Original O2 sensor... I was thinking the same thing.. Would explain rough idle and poor fuel economy.. So would MAP.. (Easier to change first)..

whoah.. are there 2 O2 sensors? Front/rear? Which one usually goes bad?

IPD turbo control valve.. replaced a while back. I was thinking the control spring/diaphragm on the Turbo itself could be gone..

Below 2k its a slug.. Between 3500 and 7k.. its still a rocket(and smells like it to..) and noticeable faster than 01 S60 T5. I also had the IPD ecu upgrade 2 days after I bought it.. that was a while back. (Other note, transmission neutral upgrade deleted the IPD ecu mapping)
