Reverse sonar low sound level V70-XC70 2001

The Volvo reverse sonar installed on my 2001 Xc is still too quiet when adjusted to full volume. The installation position of the sound maker is in the back. Anyone else with this problem, and is there a convenient alternative location nearer to the driver?

    We had an S80 customer with the same problem, the solution I came up with was to move the sensor that makes noise up under the center grill on his dash board. He didn't have a speaker under there, so all that would of had to be done was run two wires up there and tie wrap it to the frame under the speaker grill. He didn't want to do it because he was going to have to pay for it out of his own pocket.

    i didn't know the 2001 XCs come with reverse sonars. is this an after purchase option? if so, like to know how much if you don't mind.

      Paul, it was a dealer intalled option, installed before delivery of the new car so that it is covered by the 4 year warranty. Converted from Canadian dollars to US, it was somewhat over $500 installed. It has four sensors in the rear bumper. Incidentally, I also had the Volvo hitch installed by the dealer as original equipment. Unlike for the other V70 models, the specific hitch for the XC does not require a cut-out in the bumper.

        thanks John for the info. i'll drop by the dealer some time next week to get some information on this. reason i asked is because i carelessly back into another car the other day and got my bumper scratched up pretty good. if i had the sensors this would not have happened.
