My radiator only leaks in the winter 850 1995

Two winters now, it starts around x-mas. A tiny spot on the driveway and some wetness. To make sure it doesn't get any worse I put in all new Volvo brand antifreeze last week. It's blue. I drained the block - which didn't seem worth the trouble as maybe just 1 cup came out. Original radiator from late '94.

Must be some plastic parts shrink - I believe plastic's size changes a bit more than other materials based on temperature.

Is there any hint as to where the spot on the driveway is compared to the engine placement? Remember, any radiator leak will drip down to the air guide and run to the driver's side before it drips to the pavement.

Drivers side 850 1995

It would be wet under the big hose (not on the hose) where coolant accumulated on the plastic under pan piece that I remove to get at the radiator drain spout. It would drip from there to the driveway and make a quarter size spot each day. Dry as a bone today though. Since it's been 20 months since I first noticed it I've given up fear of a sudden failure and have no plans for a repair.

PASSENGER side leak 850 1995

You probably have a very small leak on the passenger's side of
the radiator which is evaporating in the heat. Keep a watchful eye on the
overflow bottle, even in the warm weather.

When you decide to replace the radiator, easier now than in December,
remember to get new upper and lower hoses and clamps. If the thermostat
hasn't been changed in a long while, replace that also with OEM.
