Need Advice on Seat Covers 850 1996

Hello All,

I have a red (Color code 601) 1996 850 GLT wagon with leather seats that are in the color of tan/beige (Color coder 3960). The car has just over 300K miles (I purchased it new). Both front seats have become bady worn and cracked. I've looked at junkyard seats, but so far I haven't found any in decent shape that are the same color and have seat warmers (Yup, mine still work, though I have replaced the heating pads). The cost of having my local upholsterer re-do the seats with vinyl of a similar color (I won't bother trying to match the original leather) is cost prohibitive.

At this juncture I'm thinking of purchasing pre-made seat covers. I will probably have my local upholsterer install them and pay for the labor. Can anyone recommend a company that sells good seat covers of durable quality and good fit (I don't want to use sheep skins)?

Also, JC Whitney sells a clolth material seat cover for the 850. Has anyone purchased seat covers from JC Whitney for the 850 and can share your experience? Thanks to all who reply to the two questions above.

Hugh

Do you have the SIPS side impact air bags?
Seat covers might wreck that system.
There's mention of that in the 95 850 owners manual.

      Bill,

I do have side airbags, but confirmed with each company that sells seat covers, that the cover they sell accomodates the air bag.

IPD sells fabric seat covers, but there are no reviews or pictures:

OR, if you seats are not worn through and the seams are not coming apart, read the following:

Try marathon seat covers in Montana. Believe it is marathonseatcovers.com
