I plan to go look at a 2000 S70 GLT next week which is sitting on a lot in the town of Belle Mead, NJ. (Zip 08502)
Do I have any locals up there in New Jersey land that could recommend an Indy mechanic who knows a little about Volvo's? Preferably within 5 miles or so of Belle Mead. I want to take the car to someone for a once over inspection before I consider making an offer.

There are two Volvo dealer's within 10 miles but one of them serviced the car i want to buy and I am not sure how objective they might be.

      I don't think I can do that yet. I don't own a S70,
      If you read my original post I am trying to find a mechanic to look over a used S70 that I may or may not buy.

    The dealer that serviced the car is not going to be biased, $100 is $100. Not only will they give you a very long list of potential problems, they will probably add a few 'critical' items in as well - hoping you get it serviced there. The added benefit is to get a printout of the service history. The PO name is not on the printed version, so that should not be a problem for them.

      Klaus,
      How can they not be biased. They know the car inside and out since it was the only place it was ever serviced for 10 years! $100.00 is nothing to them. They are looking for bigger fish to fry, like those customers that get the $500 tune-up. They already know I live over 60 miles away in another state, so why would they think I would be getting it serviced there?
