Great article. I thought the W gave you third gear, not second. But maybe that's different on the XC vs my T5.

Now my question is for anybody who has a tow hitch on their 2001: Is the ball/bar unit straight up and down? I've tried two now, and they both lean to the left. The welding on both units (the main cross bar that's bolted to the car) prevents the ball/bar unit from being held perpendicular.

Re: Volvo V70 tow test on new website! V70-XC70 2000

I have the Volvo tow hitch on my 2000 XC and it looks perfectly vertical to me.

The article is right. Even the 2000 XC makes a great tow vehicle. We tow our 2600lbs '53 Chris Craft and the XC performs beautifully. Nice and smooth with excellent control on the highway, and pulls strong on the hills with plenty of power to spare. Only change I'm thinking of is installing a transmission fluid temp gauge for those hot days pulling up a long hill.

Yes, a nice testimonial on the Cross Country for pulling a trailer.

The author mentions a power vibration when accelerating hard - anyone know anything about this or was it just the test car?
