J hose to evap canister? V70-XC70 1999

I got a P0442 code and most folks here say the J hose is the place to start. But, what is the easy way to change this hose? Do I have to remove the fender liner to gain access? I can reach it but don't want to break something trying to change out the hose. Any hints? Thanks, David.

I would take a damp paper towel and try wiping off the J hose first to check it. A length of electrical tape to cover any cracks might help for a few days or a week, enough to cycle the engine and see if the light goes off and stays off.

Check other vacuum lines back there. My 1998 had a 4 inch piece of vacuum line back in the same area split.
