0-60 times S40-V40 2001

i know i asked this earlier, but i got a g-tech performance meter and tried it on my car.my results were an average of 7.0 on the 0-60..this is much quicker than the 8.5 to 8.7 published in magazines.these same magazines say the g-tech is accurate...does the break in period make that much of a difference.also, carlos listed on his web site that he got 122hp on the dyno.the g-tech has a hp feature and it said 125,only change on my car is a k&n filter...does any of this sound right to you guys

    34 degrees F, 350 ft MSL, '01 V40, 1176 miles:

    0-60 7.0

    149 HP

These numbers were obtained on level ground and are the average of two runs done in opposite directions on the same piece of closed roadway.

The acceleration is stab and go, no power braking or any other tricks.

        It's a US spec auto trans 1.9T.

        I used 3250# as weight (3050# + 200# for me).

    Re: 0-60 times S40-V40 2001

Metric version of a G-tech in my T4 (manual) gave me a 0-62.5mph (0-100km/h) of 6.7 seconds, which is right on the money if you look at the specs TME quotes for their ECU upgrade.

I think I can shave off one or two tenths still as I have a little too much wheelspin at launch. I'll do a re-run during the summer with hot tires for max grip.

HP rating with the G-tech came out around 225, which is consistent with the 10 to 15 hp power loss in the manual trans. Crank hp should be between 235 and 240.

    Bye, Arno.

    Ryan,

It's cool you got a G-tech reading! I haven't had time to even drive the car (it's up on jackstands waiting for the new suspension) How many miles are on your car? This is good we are getting some hard real-life numbers to coloberate with each other, this way we know what we're really starting with (in real life numbers of course)and it usually takes anywhere between 3,000 and 5,000 for a proper engine break-in.

Happy holidays everyone and have a safe and Happy New Year

    Carlos

just turned 4000 miles.have you heard of anyone else using a g-tech...oh by the way my best times were done by power breaking at 1500 rpm and going full throttle when releasing the breaks....any higher and all i got was wheel spin any lower and it bogged untill boost came on.give it a try and tell me what you think

        Re: 0-60 times S40-V40 2001

I'll try to get my hands on a g-tech as soon as i get the suspension back together. By the way, we switched over to Apex suspension, H&R didn't seem too interested in getting the problem resolved so I immediately started contacting other companies and Apex was the first to show strong support. B+G supposedly will have lowering springs and a coil-over set available very soon. It turns out there are three different strut towers for the 2001 S/V40's and 13 (yep, that's right , 13!!) different types of springs for the front available from Volvo for these cars. Talk about making it difficult to get lowering springs! Just thought you might like to know.

        Carlos
