Anyone looking for a V70T5M? V70-XC70 1998

I see that Smythe Volvo in San Jose, CA is advertising a V70 T5M. Since I know these are hard to come by, I though I would make it public.

I have no personal interest in the dealership & I haven't seen the car, just the ad.

They are rare but they do exist even though someone here recently said that they weren't sold in the US. I've seen them too in the midwest at our dealership when new, off the truck and on the lot (FWD, not AWD with manual trans).

I purchased my 98 T5M new from Smythe. It will be interesting to

see how long this one is on the lot. Some people say they are hard

to sell but I've had a salesman tell me people ask for them and

they are not hard to sell.

Oh, I know they exist. There's one in my driveway (1999). I just thought someone else would enjoy having one as much as I do.

        G-D, I LOVE MINE!!!

The only thing I long for is more traction! The only thing I'd give back is less torque steer. Sound like I need an AWD R in a manual? That one isn't available right?

(And for the record, I will be upgrading the entire suspension some day.)

Wow, That's 2 V70R manuals in the US and at this BB.

There were no AWD manuals sold in the US however but there were some in Canada from what I've read. I've never seen one.

Neither Adam nor I have V70R manuals, just V70T5 manuals. I've only heard of one V70R manual on the board, and I think it was in Canada, with people down here in the US scheming on how to go up north to buy one. But I don't recall hearing that anyone did.

I managed to bring back a 99 V70 T5M from Canada. I had a choice of a 98 V70 AWD LPT manual or a 98 V70R auto (I asked about a V70R manual and they said there was no such thing in Canada) but chose the T5M instead (and it came standard with 50 series tires too). The whole trick to getting them accross is recieving the approval letter from Volvo Canada. I believe they will always send to a letter to bring a used Volvo accross, but not for a new car. You have to carefully watch the exchange rates and have enough cash to wait a few months for the return of there 15% tax.
