I have a Garmin Streetpilot 2730 in our S80. It has an integrated XM radio and MP3 player. It will transmit its sound on any FM frequency. This signal originates in the GPS speaker. With the S80 antenna being in the rear window defogger grid, we have to constantly change the frequency when we travel.

I want to install a FM direct connect modulator that interrupts the FM antenna. I have done a lot of research and believe the Schoshe FM MOD2 is will do what I want. To intercept the antenna, you have to use some Metra 40-VL30 adapters.

Have any of you ever tried this with any success?

    Mission accomplished thanks to the resources of this and another Volvo message board. The FM direct connect modulator works great. The antenna interface cables worked as advertised. Right now, I just ran the jack and on off switch module into the glove box. I may mount it later. There is a slight hum, but you cannot hear it with the music playing.

    I don't have any experience with that unit, but I think you'll have good luck with it if you put it in.

    I put another model in my old 760. It was a really cheap piece of equipment and could have been a lot better, but it worked ok.

    I had some ground loop problems with mine and I think if I bought one of these again I would buy one with a ground loop isolator like this one:

    The sound quality is not as good as a tape adapter, but it's adequate for sure.

    The installation is easy easy easy too.
