Aftermarket Parts 850

I have a 1994 850 2.4l with a manual transmission. I love the car and enjoy working on it. I have 180,000 miles on it and I am currently replacing the driver side hub. When I take it apart, I was going to replace the axle shaft as well. I've seen these parts on FCP Groton fairly cheap. I've seen the hub for $75 and the axle shaft for about the same. Also, I see they have an ebay store and sell the same parts for even cheaper there. Does anyone have an opinion on these aftermarket parts? Let me know what you think. I plan on putting at least another 100,000 on the car and don't want to replace everything I'm doing this weekend in 3 years.

    Aftermarket Parts 850

EMPI axles have been good to me. I usually get four to five years out of them, and they run approximately $95 from World Pac. A rebuilt axle from the dealer is going to run you north of $400, and will last double that time (with a boot, or two, needing replacing). EMPI axles cannot have the boots replaced, or so says EMPI...you will need to, when the boot tears, replace the axle.

Under no circumstance should you purchase anything with the FEQ (First Equipment Quality)name attached to it. The parts made by FEQ are garbage, and you will find yourself doing the job again.

FCP Groton, and IPD, sell both OE and Aftermarket parts. There is a reason why the price differential is what it is between OE and Aftermarket. Absent a few parts, from reputable companies, like EMPI axles, I stick with the OE parts.

I hope that this has been helpful!

Have a most splendid weekend, one and all! :)
