Erratic idle V70-XC70 1999

Hello.
-99 V70. Base model, nonturbo, auto transmission, 153k so far.
Has a slightly erratic idle it seems, especially when cold is when I notice it.
Fluctuates between appx 900-1300rpm...
No check engine light or other indications... Any ideas?
Thanks,
Rolf

ETM comes to mind. Temperature will effect how it responds. Xemodex.com is better than OEM and half the price when replacement is warranted.

Hello Klaus.
Thanks for the info. Have not replaced the throttle body as of yet as my problem is barely noticeable...
Trying to figure out if there are any cheaper options than a $500 throttle body exchange (seems very nice though), like a Throttle position sensor (Ebay #220470687699, at appx $80 or so)?
What do you think?
Rolf

Hi,

Check for vacuum leaks, especially the Brake Vacuum Servo. Pinch off the line and see if the problem disappears.

There are also problems with the coil on plug ignitors, but, without the pinpointing of the engine computer, confirming this will be difficult without total replacement.

Hi.
Have heard that the coils go bad and so on, but wondering if I wouldn't see any fault codes, like a misfire or something related to the coils in that case..?
Rolf
