2002 v70xc ABS Module V70-XC70

While seaching for a good Used ABS Module for my Volvo. I contacted VolvoParts in Atlanta and asked him did he have part number 8671547 for my car and he wrote me the following note.

VOLUPARTS Inc. ---- since 1977

Hi. sorry, but to the best of my knowledge, starting in 2002 , you
can't take a good working module out of a wrecked volvo and expect it to work well in another volvo [ even thought both are the SAME model , year, and part # and even with a re-download.]
[ But, if you Do get a used one and it works fine for you,. please tell me.....]
all ones for sale on the net are New...
the folks that rebuild the earlier ones don't sell 2002 or later ones, just New ones....

your local dealer will be happy to sell you a new one and it will only
function when new software for it is downloaded into the car.

this situation applies with at least 20 of the larger electronic parts on
that car.

we have lots of Volvo parts, so keep us in mind next time.....

Having neither the time or the knowledge to fool around with the Volvo software on these, I believe he is correct. I know you have to load in the software on the new ones, and I'm not sure you can just re-flash the components. It very well might be possible and easily doable, but I don't think Volvo ever went down that avenue, and I don't know of any shops that do it.

Then again, if you're running a shop and figured out a workaround (maybe replacing the memory chips? I don't know how hard it would be to clear previous memory) would you sell them as used, or claim they're new and make more profit?

I think they can still be rebuilt (re-soldering joints or replacing components, I don't know what typically fails on these units either) , but I don't know that 100% either.

Sorry I can't be more help, I can just tell you what he says is plausibe...

If you're not driving it "like its stolen," are you really driving?
